It doesn’t come as a surprise when I say where you’ll be stems from where you are now. Spiritually, emotionally, and mentally, you can never be greater than the practice you put into your daily self.

You ask for good and abundant things but practice malice. You will receive exactly who you are. The action of being is the asking and the receiving is the living. It comes full circle in all its errors and glory.

I have learned that I might pray for all the blessings in the world, but if I do not come from that space of feeling blessed, I will not receive my blessing. If I pray for blessings for five minutes and spend 23 hours and 55 minutes in an ungrateful state, guess what will happen? I will root myself deeper in misery.

Now, coming from a place of blessings does not necessarily mean reciting ‘I AM blessed’ affirmations six times a day for nine minutes at a time. Simply, identify an area of your life that feels blessed then live and expand in that gratefulness. That ‘Thank you’, for now is the time to reap your fruits and not later on. The God frequency resides in gratefulness, confidence, kindness, and happiness. It does not reside in ‘begging energy’ for lack of a better phrase. In self-pity energy. In cursive energy. No sir now. If that is where you are coming from while kneeling before God, you will continue to beg and cry and pity yourself until you come to him in thankful awe with excited energy, confident asks. That’s where it’s at.

Take the following texts from different holy scriptures and philosophers:

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh Findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

(Bible – Mathew 7:8)

In whatever way a devotee surrenders unto me, I reward him accordingly. Everyone follows my path in all respects, O son of Prtha.

(Bhagavad Gita – BG 4.11)

And if My servants ask you, concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me.

(Quran – 2:186)

You are not told that if you come to God in asking you will be blessed. You are told that if you come to God you will receive. Whatever you receive will be up to you.

If you come with a lying tongue your neighbours will lie about and to you. If you come in an angry spirit you will receive the portion of your consequence. When there is praise from your mouth about all the beautiful wonders of divine energy in this world so will there be praise for your legacy from people that have never met you. It is who you are that you receive. It is what you embody that shows who you are and the type of spirit that lives in you.

If I say the spirit of God lives in me, then I have to embody the qualities of God. If God is love, then there it is. To all you meet, every creation; love it, because God is inside the love you feel and there is no way to get closer to him than through the heart. No creation is separate from God because the divine energy is the source of all creation.

A man once said, ‘If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.” His name was Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. To yearn for divine connection will make you realize how insignificant all other worldly yearnings are. To year for source is a feeling so empty it brings a crying. A draining so filling it’s in the realm of inexplicable phenomenon. You can’t touch it, you can’t prove it. You only feel it. It’s empty because we’re human. It’s filling because we’re divine.

On another note, kindness doesn’t hurt. Only the ego is hurt by acts of kindness. If you find it difficult to be kind, remember how fast life turns; as fast as the turn of a dancer. Remember how fast life moves; as fast as the waters of a waterfall. We all have an expiry date. maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe 2030, maybe 2050, maybe next week.

I have lost 3 friends last year and I’m sure none of them knew that it was their last day on the fateful days they left their houses for the very last time. They had dreams and plans and had postponed alot of things to finish up later. They never got that chance. Their deaths have made me less of a procrastinator and more of a risk taker. They have made me kinder, softer, more desiring of genuine friendships, intimate relationships. Realness.

The forced issues? Leave it all behind. Step into the space where you feel most appreciated. Where you laugh most. And remember, if it hurts to be kind, there is a crucial part of your life where you are not being kind to yourself. That’s what you’re projecting. Deal with it. No one is inside you to know your internal struggles on a daily let alone to fully understand them. The work is on you if the bitterness is in you.

You can’t know something without putting it into practice. You have to put it into practice to know. You can’t say you have changed when you are not continuously shedding that old self and all the behaviours and beliefs associated with the old self and putting into daily practice new and more informed ways of living, and also doing it with intention. Live what you preach otherwise you are beating your own drum to the tune of your own misery.

The eyes of my heart tell me to trust my intuition. The brain behind my eyes helps me to question my motivations. I use both heart and mind in equal balance for when one tips the scale, life is equally slanted on one end and the other end suffers. Life is a balance. Life is a state of mind. Life is not a cruel punishment but if you believe it is, you will live it as you believe it.

I come to you today to encourage the hell out of you. When God is for you, who will be against you? Not a single human being. Not one. Move with the knowledge that the spirit of God lives in you. I’ll leave you today with this verse from ‘Till I Collapse’ by Eminem:

But you got to search within you, and try to find that inner strength
And just pull that shit out of you
And get that motivation to not give up, and not be a quitter
