Be A Blessing To The Earth

The cricket cries
In the dead of the night
Of the wishes that die,
And the souls that bite,
And the hearts that quit
And empty the bucket of their will.

The birds might as well be the alarm
When morning time comes,
And the worries of the heart are still at lull.
But it plays its part in the play of the universe,
And reminds us that today we could write a beautiful song,
That we could be the music and musicians,
And do our part as best we can,
Abandoning the debris of Ill-intention
And finding a new path to a new earth.

The moon can’t help but shine,
The stars can’t shy away from a dance,
So why are we – as angles to be-
Addicted to the art, of breaking our own hearts?
Of all the addictions we should quit,
And the sickness we could readily heal,
Why be a disease to the yielding land,
Why be the locust to your own plants?

I long with all the radius of my heart
To be a blessing to all whom I meet on my path.
That my neighbors son may be my own,
And when I can lawfully carry a firearm
I may use it to protect our sons.
And when our women cry rape
Their cries may yield action on my part
And that to every strained voice that tears the air,
I may -to all- be Honorable, Truthful and Fair.

We have survived ourselves
And this mental illness
Where nothing is enough
And all that can be had, we must have
And we will continue to survive
Because when I envision the world of tomorrow,
I don’t fantasize about broken dreams and Sorrows,
I see instead our similar needs,
Of love, harmony and peace,
And I compare those qualities to those of nature’s love,
As one would compare a red apple to a red-orange one.

Consider too that we might die
Like the cricket that cries and cries,
And finally, one day, just dies
And life continues to go by
And those left behind
Remain with the Broom in their hands,
And the departed -regrets in the hearts,
That once upon a time
They had many and many a chance
To act from love to all that come across their path
And be a blessing to the earth.
