Let's meet Kendi.

Poet, Writer, Artist, Force of mass literacy.

Kendi Karimi is a professional journalist whose work spans prestigious media houses ranging from Homeboyz Radio to the Saturday Nation. She’s a Magna-Cum-Laude graduant in Mass Communication.

Her short story, What Does It Mean To Be Kind Anyway, found in her short story collection, Life In No Order, was shortlisted for the Wakini Kuria Prize for children’s literature in 2021. In 2022, the story Number 27 was shortlisted for the African Writers Awards. In 2024, she was nominated for People’s Choice Award “African Author of the Year”.

Her first poetry collection, The Cages We Built, premiered at #4 on Amazon’s bestseller list. Our Brief Heavenly Hour has been featured by Writer’s Space Africa and her work has been recognized by BIC group. Her work has also been featured in numerous international anthologies. She is also an artist who enjoys the occasional play with canvas. Kendi hopes to live a life of open expression through her art.

She has also authored several books, some of which are available on Amazon, and Nuria Bookstore in Kenya.
